Four Arrows (Wahinkpe Topa), also known as Dr. Don Trent Jacobs, is an acclaimed author, scholar, and educator whose work bridges Indigenous wisdom and contemporary thought. Author of 24 books and numerous peer-reviewed papers, he is internationally recognized for his contributions to cognitive anthropology, education, critical theory, and holistic wellness. With a career spanning over 30 years as a university professor—including positions at Fielding Graduate University, Northern Arizona University, and as Dean of Education at Oglala Lakota College—he continues to serve as an independent researcher, lecturer, and counselor.
Holding doctorates in health psychology and curriculum and instruction (with a focus on Indigenous worldviews), Four Arrows has inspired thinkers like Noam Chomsky, Vandana Shiva, and Henry Giroux. He was named one of AERO’s 27 educational visionaries and received the Martin-Springer Institute’s Moral Courage Award for his activism.
A passionate advocate for ecological and cultural harmony, he currently supports the creation of a No Take Zone Marine Park in Mexico. When not writing or teaching, he enjoys equestrian endurance, ocean sports, and music. With warmth, depth, and clarity, Four Arrows brings Indigenous worldviews into conversation with global challenges, offering grounded, hopeful pathways for education, healing, and transformation.
