Osprey Orielle Lake is the Founder and Executive Director of the Women’s Earth and Climate Action Network (WECAN) International. A passionate advocate for climate justice, she works nationally and globally with grassroots and frontline women leaders, policymakers, and diverse coalitions to advance women’s leadership, community resilience, and a just transition to a regenerative, democratized energy future. Osprey co-directs the Indigenous Women’s Divestment Delegations and leads initiatives that uplift feminist climate solutions and Indigenous rights, including engagements at United Nations climate conferences and the Women for Forests campaign.

She was the visionary behind the International Women’s Earth and Climate Summit, bringing together 100 global women leaders to shape a Women’s Climate Action Agenda. Osprey also co-founded the International Women’s Earth and Climate Initiative (IWECI), the precursor to WECAN.

Osprey serves on the Executive Committee of the Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature and has helped organize International Rights of Nature Tribunals. Her writing appears in The Guardian, Earth Island Journal, and more. She is the author of the award-winning book Uprisings for the Earth: Reconnecting Culture with Nature.

Her life’s work is rooted in love for the Earth and the belief that protecting the planet means empowering women and honoring Indigenous wisdom.
