Teacher | Scholar | Storyteller
Carlos Pomeda is a globally respected teacher and scholar of the Indian wisdom traditions, with over four decades of dedicated study, practice, and teaching. Born in Madrid, Spain, he spent 18 years as a monk in the Saraswati order—nine of those immersed in traditional training in India under the name Swami Gitananda. During this time, he taught meditation and philosophy to thousands of students worldwide, cultivating a rare depth of lived experience.
In parallel, Carlos pursued academic excellence, earning Master’s degrees in Sanskrit (U.C. Berkeley) and Religious Studies (U.C. Santa Barbara). He is currently writing Karma and the Journey of the Soul and preparing a new translation of the Śivasūtra, a central text in Kashmir Shaivism.
Carlos is known for his ability to translate complex philosophical concepts into clear, relevant, and engaging teachings. His dialogues offer a meeting point between ancient wisdom and contemporary experience—bridging intellect and heart, insight and embodiment. Through humor, clarity, and compassion, he guides students into a direct encounter with the deeper dimensions of self and reality.
Today, he travels internationally offering retreats, courses, and wisdom dialogues that invite transformation through understanding, presence, and the living tradition of yoga.
