Fr. Dr. K. M. George is a distinguished Indian theologian, scholar, writer, and educator, currently serving as Director of the Sopana Orthodox Academy in Kottayam, Kerala. Born in 1946, he pursued higher education in Kerala before studying theology at the Orthodox Theological Seminary and Serampore University. He later earned a Master’s degree from Louvain and a Doctorate from Paris, where he also studied fine arts.

Throughout his career, Fr. George has combined academic excellence with international leadership. He taught at the Bossuet Ecumenical Institute in Geneva and served as Moderator of the World Council of Churches Programme Committee from 1998 to 2006. Fluent in several languages, including French, Syriac, and Latin, he has made significant contributions to theological and cultural discourse through his extensive writings in both Malayalam and English.

His publications address themes such as theology, ethics, culture, spirituality, and contemporary thought. Among his notable works are God-Language: A Patristic Perspective, Ethics of Just Peace, Gospel and Culture, and Guru Gregorios. Widely respected as a thinker and public intellectual, Fr. George has also gained recognition for his lectures on influential contemporary thinkers, helping introduce global philosophical and cultural debates to wider audiences in Kerala and beyond.
