Prof. Dr. Sabu Thomas is currently the Director of the School of Chemical Sciences and Honorary Director of the Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala, India. He earned his PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur and is internationally recognized for his contributions to materials science, polymer research, and nanotechnology.
Prof. Thomas has an h-index of 150 and has published more than 1,800 international research papers, receiving over 160,000 citations worldwide. He also holds 25 patents and has authored or edited more than 200 books. In 2008, he was ranked among the most productive researchers in India, and in 2018 he received the Careers360 Faculty Research Award as the most cited researcher in India in Materials Science. In 2017, he was awarded the prestigious Fulbright Fellowship.
He serves as a visiting professor at several universities across Europe, including institutions in France, Germany, Belgium, Slovenia, and Poland. His research group, composed of PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, visiting scholars, and project students, has graduated nearly 80 PhD candidates who now contribute to academia and industry worldwide. Through extensive international collaborations and scientific leadership, Prof. Thomas continues to advance innovation in advanced materials and nanoscience. He is also the Editor of the journal Nano-Structures & Nano-Objects.
